Wykorzystanie mezenchymalnych komórek macierzystych w leczeniu stwardnienia rozsianego

Abstrakt:

Stwardnienie rozsiane jest przewlekłą i nieuleczalną chorobą ośrodkowego układu nerwowego. W jej przebiegu, w wyniku zmian o podłożu demielinizacyjnym, występują objawy neurologiczne o różnym nasileniu. Rozwój choroby prowadzi do wystąpienia trwałych deficytów neurologicznych.

Zgodnie z zaleceniami Polskiego Towarzystwa Neurologicznego leczenie stwardnienia rozsianego oparte jest na wielokierunkowym postępowaniu, którego nadrzędnymi celami są zahamowanie aktywności i progresji choroby. W zależności od postaci schorzenia oraz występowania rzutów i okresów remisji, zalecane metody leczenia znacznie się różnią. Należy również pamiętać o leczeniu objawowym innych dolegliwości, znacznie wpływających na stopień niepełnosprawności osób chorujących na stwardnienie rozsiane.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie wyników najnowszych badań dotyczących korzyści płynących z zastosowania mezenchymalnych komórek macierzystych w leczeniu stwardnienia rozsianego.

Abstract:

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic and incurable disease of the central nervous system. In its course, as a result of demyelinating changes, neurological symptoms of varying severity occur. The development of the disease leads to significant permanent neurological deficits.

According to the recommendations of the Polish Neurological Society, the treatment of multiple sclerosis is based on a multidirectional approach, the primary goals of which are to inhibit the activity and progression of the disease. Recommended treatment methods vary significantly depending on the form of the disease and the occurrence of relapses and remissions. It is also important to remember about the symptomatic treatment of other ailments that significantly affect the degree of disability of people suffering from multiple sclerosis.

This study aims to present the results of the latest research on the benefits of using mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
